Valentine Lake (Styled Elopement)

Featured on Bridal Musings and The English Wedding Blog.

The inspiration for this shoot came from a little cabin my family owns in Devon, by the River Teign and a manmade lake (named Valentine Lake as it is in the shape of a heart). It is the perfect spot to get away from it all so popped straight in to my head when I thought of a couple eloping.

The theme of the shoot, above everything else, was love and simplicity. This couple take to the road to spend their wedding day simply and beautifully, wandering through the forest, hauling out a mish-mash of crockery and candles to adorn the wedding breakfast table and ending the perfect day on the beach in each others arms.

The colour palette was inspired by the English landscape which surrounds them, muted blues, pinks and greens with a flash of golden corn here and there. Credits below.

I want to thank everyone who worked so hard on the shoot - firstly my sister and her boyfriend (the real couple in the shoot) for kindly letting me boss them around for two days, Alice Stevens and Alice Dobie for co-ordinating, styling, providing props and transporting everything and everyone! Claire-Louise Bender for working her magic with her make-up brushes, Alice Dobie (again) for hair, Jessica Turner Designs for providing the beautiful Cowslip dress, Yolk for making that wonderful (and delicious) naked cake, Lisa Thorne of Halcyon Floral Design for the stunning bouquets, floral arrangements and the gorgeous head-dress, Bon Bridal for providing such pretty, golden accessories and Kate Moby for the hand-calligraphed letter.
